About IRID

Photography with presence, context and longevity.

Founded in 2026, IRID Gallery is an Australian contemporary photography gallery operating between Melbourne and Sydney. The gallery represents photographers whose work holds attention, rewards stillness and continues to reveal itself over time.

Why IRID exists

In a culture of constant images, IRID makes room for the ones that stay.

Photography is encountered faster than ever, yet the works that matter most often ask for the opposite: time, attention and return.

IRID was established to support photographs with that kind of presence. The gallery brings together distinctive practices across fine art, documentary, wildlife, landscape and conceptual photography, while maintaining a clear focus on resolved bodies of work and exceptional print production.

The result is a programme built not around volume, but around work with enough visual and emotional precision to remain meaningful beyond its first encounter.

01 · Attention

Work that rewards looking.

Images selected for their capacity to hold attention, reveal detail and invite a slower encounter.

02 · Context

Presentation with purpose.

Every edition, exhibition and placement is considered in relation to the artist, the work and the space it enters.

03 · Longevity

Relationships built to last.

The gallery prioritises long-term support, careful production and considered collecting over short-lived visibility.

How we work

A gallery relationship built around the life of the work.

IRID works across representation, exhibitions, editions and placement. Each relationship is approached with the same intention: to give strong photography the context, production and audience it deserves.

Artists

Representation with depth.

Long-term dialogue around bodies of work, print practice, editions, storytelling, exhibitions and market development.

Curatorial position

A distinctive vision cannot be manufactured. It can only be recognised.

IRID looks for practices with something irreducible at their centre: a recognisable visual language, a coherent body of work and a print practice capable of carrying the artist’s intent into physical form.

01

Formally rigorous and emotionally precise.

02

Resolved as a body of work, not only as individual images.

03

Produced with clarity around editions, materials and presentation.

04

Capable of continuing to unfold beyond the first encounter.
