Find your answer

Begin with the part that matters now.

The answers below provide general guidance. Details can vary by artist, artwork, edition, presentation and destination, so the individual artwork page or written gallery confirmation remains the most specific source.

01What is a limited-edition photographic print?

A limited edition is produced in a stated maximum quantity. Each edition is associated with the artist, title, size, materials and edition information shown on the artwork page, certificate or written quotation. Once the authorised edition is complete, no additional prints should be produced in that same edition specification.

02Are the works signed and numbered?

Limited-edition works are signed and numbered where stated. The signature may appear on the print, on an accompanying label or within the certificate documentation, depending on the artist and presentation method.

03Can I choose my edition number?

Edition numbers are generally allocated during fulfilment and may not be issued sequentially. You can request a preferred number, but availability cannot be guaranteed unless IRID confirms it in writing.

04What is an artist proof?

An artist proof is an authorised print outside the numbered edition, traditionally retained for the artist or production review. Artist proofs are identified separately where applicable and form part of the documented edition structure.

05How do I know whether an artwork is still available?

Availability depends on the remaining edition and successful payment. An item in a cart or an enquiry does not reserve an edition unless the gallery confirms the reservation in writing.

06Can IRID help me choose a work for my space?

Yes. Share the room, wall dimensions, preferred scale, framing direction and any artists or works you are considering. IRID can help compare size, proportion, placement and presentation before you decide.

07Are prices shown in Australian dollars?

Yes. Website prices are shown in Australian dollars and include GST where applicable unless stated otherwise. Framing, larger works and international delivery may require an individual quotation.

01How are IRID artworks produced?

Works are produced using the materials and process stated for the individual edition. This may include archival pigment printing on fine art paper or another artist-approved photographic presentation. Refer to the artwork listing or written quotation for the exact specification.

02Will the finished print look exactly like it does on my screen?

Screens, paper, ink, framing and room lighting all affect appearance. Slight differences in colour, tone, scale and surface character between a digital preview and the physical artwork are normal and are not necessarily a defect.

03Can I buy the artwork unframed?

Many works are available as print-only or framed options, but presentation choices vary. The available options are shown on the artwork page or confirmed by the gallery.

04Can IRID advise on framing?

Yes. IRID can discuss frame colour, profile, glazing, mounting and scale in relation to the artwork and intended room. Framing should protect the work while remaining visually resolved and appropriate to the artist’s presentation.

05How should I display and care for a photographic print?

Avoid prolonged direct sunlight, excessive heat, high humidity and unstable environments. Handle unframed prints only with clean, dry hands or suitable gloves, and avoid touching the printed surface. Use professional framing and appropriate hanging hardware for the artwork’s weight and presentation.

06Can a work be produced in a custom size?

Only where the artist’s edition structure permits it. Changing size can affect edition integrity, pricing, materials and presentation, so custom requests must be reviewed and confirmed by IRID and the artist before production.

01When is my order confirmed?

An order is accepted when IRID issues confirmation and payment has cleared. Payment is generally required in full unless another arrangement is agreed in writing.

02How long does production take?

Production varies according to the artist, size, material, framing and supplier availability. The estimated timeframe appears on the artwork page, at checkout or in written confirmation. Timeframes are estimates rather than guaranteed delivery dates.

03How is shipping calculated?

Shipping depends on the artwork’s size, presentation, packaging requirements and destination. Charges are shown at checkout where available or confirmed separately for larger, framed or international works.

04Does IRID ship internationally?

International delivery can be arranged for many works. The recipient is responsible for customs duties, import taxes, brokerage fees and local charges unless IRID agrees otherwise in writing.

05Can I cancel or return an artwork because I changed my mind?

Because limited-edition prints and framed works are generally produced to order, IRID does not ordinarily accept returns or cancellations for change of mind. Contact the gallery promptly; where production has not begun, a cancellation may be considered at IRID’s discretion. This does not limit rights that cannot be excluded under Australian law.

06What should I do if an artwork arrives damaged?

Contact hello@iridgallery.com as soon as practical, preferably within seven days. Include the order details and clear photographs of the artwork, packaging and damage. Keep all original packaging until the gallery confirms whether it is needed for assessment, return transport or an insurance claim.

07What happens if the artwork is faulty or not as described?

Contact IRID with the order information and evidence of the issue. Depending on the circumstances and applicable consumer rights, the remedy may include repair, replacement, re-supply or refund.

01Will my artwork include a certificate of authenticity?

Eligible limited-edition works are supplied with a certificate of authenticity or equivalent edition documentation confirming details such as the artist, title, edition number, edition size, materials and authorising signature.

02Are IRID certificates embossed?

Certificates issued directly by IRID are embossed. A represented artist may also issue their own certificate using an artist-specific format. Where appropriate, IRID can verify artist-issued documentation for represented artists.

03Can a lost certificate be replaced?

Replacement documentation may not always be possible. A request may require verification by IRID, the artist or an authorised representative, together with purchase, ownership and artwork details. Store the original certificate separately and securely.

04Does buying a print give me copyright in the image?

No. You own the physical artwork, but copyright, reproduction rights and commercial-use rights remain with the artist or copyright owner. The image must not be reproduced, published, licensed or commercially exploited without written permission.

05Can I resell the physical artwork?

You may lawfully resell the physical artwork, subject to applicable law. Keeping the certificate, invoice, condition information and provenance documentation with the work helps preserve its history and supports future verification.

06Can IRID help authenticate a work by a represented artist?

IRID may be able to review certificates or documentation associated with its represented artists. Authentication depends on the available records, artwork details, provenance and artist confirmation. Begin through the authentication page or contact the gallery.
