The name

Iridescence

noun. A play of colour that shifts as the light, or your angle, changes.

IRID takes its name from iridescence. Think of oil on water, or the inside of a shell. The surface changes each time you move.

The photographs we represent behave the same way. You see one thing on the first day. Weeks later, in a different light, you find what you missed.

We look for that quality in every body of work. It gave us our line: images that reveal themselves over time.

Why IRID exists

In a culture of constant images, IRID makes room for the ones that stay.

Most photographs now get a second on a screen. The work that matters asks for the opposite: time, attention and return.

IRID gives that work a home. We bring together fine art, documentary, wildlife, landscape and conceptual practices, and we judge each one on a resolved body of work and the quality of its print.

We would rather show five photographers well than fifty in passing.

01 · Attention

Work that rewards looking.

Images that hold you, give up their detail slowly and ask for a second look.

02 · Context

Presentation with purpose.

We plan each edition and each placement around the artist, the work and the room it goes into.

03 · Longevity

Relationships built to last.

Long-term support for our photographers, careful production, and editions that hold their value.

How we work

A gallery relationship built around the life of the work.

Four kinds of people work with IRID. Each gets the same thing from us: the right context, honest production details and a direct line to the gallery.
