Biography
Years of waiting for one honest moment.
John Wiseman is an Australian wildlife photographer. His practice rests on close observation, technical discipline and a lasting fascination with animal behaviour.
He turned to photography full time after a career in finance. The preparation and attention that served him in business came with him into the field, where patience counts for more than control.
His archive spans African mammals, South American hummingbirds, Australian birdlife, reptiles, insects and remote natural places. The pictures he values most show behaviour: humour, vulnerability, tension or stillness, with the animal fully present in the frame.
John also teaches, speaks and judges. He runs workshops and private tuition built on field knowledge, animal welfare and quick decisions in changing light.
