01 · Buying
Buying and editions
What a limited edition means at IRID, and how buying a work happens.
-
Every IRID print is a signed, numbered limited edition. Editions are counted per size, so each size of an image has its own numbered run. When an edition sells out, it is never reprinted. Editions and materials
-
Yes. Each print carries the photographer’s signature and its number within the edition. The edition size for every work is listed on its artwork page.
-
Numbers are usually allocated as orders are fulfilled, and not always in sequence. You can ask for a preferred number. We can hold it only once the gallery confirms it in writing.
-
Yes. All prices are in Australian dollars and include GST. Prints start at $175. Shop prints
-
When payment has cleared and we send your confirmation. Payment is due in full at the time of order unless we agree otherwise in writing.
-
No. A work is reserved only when payment clears, or when the gallery confirms a hold in writing. If you are weighing up a piece, ask us about its edition status.
-
Yes. Send us the room, the wall dimensions, the scale you have in mind and any works you are considering. We will help you compare size, proportion and framing before you decide. Ask the gallery
02 · Ownership
Authenticity and ownership
How a print’s identity is recorded, and what you own when you buy it.
-
Every print comes with a certificate of authenticity. It carries the blind-embossed IRID seal and records the artist, title, edition number, image size and date of issue. A QR code on the certificate links to our authentication page.
-
Yes. We verify any certificate we issue, on request. Start at the authentication page or email hello@iridgallery.com.au with the details printed on your certificate.
-
No. You own the physical print. Copyright and all reproduction and commercial rights stay with the photographer. The image cannot be reproduced, published or licensed without their written permission.
-
Yes. You may resell the physical print. Keep the certificate and your invoice with it. Together they record the work’s history and make future verification simple.
03 · Production
Printing and framing
How prints are made, how to frame them and how to keep them well.
-
With archival pigment inks on museum-grade cotton rag and fine art papers. Each print is colour-managed and inspected by hand before it leaves production. Under normal display conditions the materials are rated to last more than 100 years. How we print
-
Close, though screens vary. Paper, ink, framing and the light in your room all change how a photograph reads. Small shifts in colour and tone between a screen preview and the print are normal.
-
Three finishes: white, black or Tasmanian oak. Every frame is made to conservation standard, with acid-free mounts and UV-protective glazing. Framed works ship within Australia only. Framing and sizing
-
Yes. Unframed prints are sized to fit standard frames, so any good framer can work with them. Ask us if you would like advice on mount width or glazing.
-
Editions are counted per size, so the sizes for each work are set. If the size you need is not listed, ask the gallery. A custom size needs approval from IRID and the photographer before production.
-
Keep it out of direct sun and away from heat and humidity. Handle unframed prints by the edges with clean, dry hands, and avoid touching the printed surface. Use hanging hardware rated for the weight of the frame.
